Zimbabwe is currently reliant on donors and imports for food security . This year over 8 million people will need food aid . Over the past 5 years , we have imported over US$2.5 billion  worth of maize and wheat alone . Over 11% of our imports are food related  , with another 9% being imports for inputs into the agriculture industry. Zimbabwe is ideally placed to become an agricultural hub for the regional and international markets.

The country has over 2 million hectares which are irrigable The sugar estates in South Eastern Zimbabwe cover over 45000 hectares and are considered one of the best run sugar growing and processing regions in the world. The  successful model can and has been replicated with other crops. Zimbabwe has over xxx of land  land which is arable There are over 80,000 tobacco farmers , who generate over US$400 million annually in foreign currency The recent announcement by government to compensate white commercial farmers who lost farms due to the land reform, will usher in a new era of agricultural productivity previously unseen. The agreement is a highlight of the myriad measures government is putting in place to revive and grow the agriculture sector

New capital will have multiplier effects throughout the country by allowing companies to expand operations and provide more goods and services to customers.

The fund will have strong capital mobilisation impact since seed funder investments will mobilise a large amount of private capital.
